The Hummus and Pita Co. has arrived! August 11th marked the official Grand Opening of Hummus and Pita Co’s new Brookfield location at 15 Federal Rd.
Founded in 2011 by Janice Axelrod in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood, Hummus and Pita focuses on 100% fresh, homemade, health focused cuisine with authentic Mediterranean flavors, “with nods to Greece, Israel, Morocco and the Middle East”.
Their menu features freshly baked pita and laffa breads combined with fillings including falafel, vegetarian, gyro, shawarma, chicken and steak – all made from scratch. Hummus and Pita boasts over 20 different side dishes, desserts and are renowned for their famous Hummus Milkshakes. (Seriously! It actually tastes great!) For the fall, they have introduced The Pumpkin Spice Shake and the Pumpkin Pie Dessert Hummus. Both are all-natural, blended with the base of real chickpeas, tahini, banana, dates, and almond milk. Natural pumpkin puree is layered into The Hummus Shake and hummus recipes to give it the delicious pumpkin flavor and then topped with The Hummus & Pita Co.’s own blend of pumpkin spice. In addition to the pumpkin flavor, the shake is available in five vegan, gluten- and dairy-free flavors, which include original, chocolate, strawberry, pistachio, and butter pecan. The dessert hummus is available in chocolate, cookie dough, and cake batter flavors and all three flavors are gluten free; the cake batter and chocolate flavors are also dairy free. Catering and delivery are also available.
For owners Rishi Parikh and Sami Shah, investing in the franchise was a natural decision. They both love Mediterranean food and appreciate the healthy, creative menu and family culture of the company.
This is the first Hummus and Pita location outside of New York City and is the start of a national expansion. Currently there are 3 locations in NYC and the franchise is opening locations in several other states this fall. “We as a family are so excited to be able to spread our dream nationally with our first of 5 Grand Openings in 5 new markets over the next 4 months” said Dave Pesso, CEO of Hummus and Pita Co.
