Connecticut’s Country Fairs and Festivals 2019

It’s that time of the year again when you can find a variety of Country Fairs and Festivals throughout the state of Connecticut!  These fairs are filled with entertainment, live music, carnival rides, animal exhibits and of course, delicious food.  There is always something for everyone!  Let’s start with the most famous one in this part of Connecticut…

Bridgewater Country Fair

August 16-18, 2019   100 Main St. South Bridgewater, CT 
The fun kicks off with the annual Bridgewater Fair Parade. This fair is known for their amazing food as well as animal competitions, exhibits, tractor pull, and entertainment. 

Hamburg Fair

August 16-18, 2019 1 Sterling City Rd, Lyme, CT
A family-friendly event that showcases many agricultural traditions while highlighting top local talent and entertainment. Enjoy the Milestone Midway carnival rides and games, food concessions, pony rides; entries and exhibits for farm, animal, crafts, fruits, vegetables and more.

Wolcott Country Fair

August 16-18, 2019 Wolcott Fairgrounds 245 Wolcott Road Wolcott, CT

Starting in 1979, the Wolcott Country Fair is the area’s largest agricultural and family fun event of the summer. Farm exhibits, animal shows, petting zoo, pony rides, carnival rides, racing pigs, arts and crafts, live entertainment, fireworks display each night plus much more. Each night a different artist performs, Friday is Fun Night, Saturday is Blues Night and Sunday is 70’s Night.

Riverfront Dragon Boat & Asian Festival 2019

Welcome to the exhilarating sport of dragon boat racing. This event features Asian entertainment, martial arts demonstrations, educational cultural booths, delicious Asian cuisine, Asian games for kids and much more. Time: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Dutchess County Fair

August 20 – August 25    Dutchess County Fairgrounds on Route 9 in Rhinebeck, NY

This fair is the second largest fair in New York State.

Brooklyn Fair

August 22 – 25 Brooklyn Fairgrounds Rte. 169 & 15 Fairgrounds Rd. Brooklyn, CT

Being the oldest continuously active agricultural fair in the United States, the Brooklyn Fair pack full of fun with draft horses, livestock shows, home and garden exhibits, live entertainment, historical displays, special daily events, midway and great food.

Chester Fair

August 23-24, 2019     Kirtland Terrace, off Route 154 Chester, CT

This agricultural family fair features animal exhibits and competitions, a magic show, and fun for kids like frog jumping, reptile ponds, giant bubbles, balloon animals, and a bird presentation! Featuring plenty of interaction with and observation of animals, as well as a full midway with amusement rides.

Terryville Lions Club Fair

August 23-25, 2019     Terryville Fairgrounds 171 Town Hill Rd. Plymouth, CT

Founded in 1948, the Terryville Lions Country Fair is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Terryville Lions Club. This year, the Terryville Fair few new surprises, like ATV and dirt bike drag racing, Jeep and pickup truck tug-of-war competitions and side-by-side truck racing. As well as great food, games and entertainment. 

Plainville Hot Air Balloon Festival 2019

August 23-25, 2019 Norton Park, off Route 177 Plainville,

The annual Plainville Hot Air Balloon Festival attracts thousands of spectators. The festival opens Friday night at 5 p.m. and live music is performed from 6 to 9:45 p.m. Fireworks at 9 p.m. Balloon glows from 8:15 to 9 p.m. On Saturday the festival opens at 6 a.m. with a balloon launch (weather permitting), followed by a craft fair from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Classic Car show from noon to 5 p.m.; a balloon launch at 6 p.m.; and live entertainment from noon until 10 p.m. by various bands. Sunday opens at 6 a.m. with the final balloon launch and the festival closes at 9 a.m.

Haddam Neck Fair

August 30-September 2, 2019 Haddam Neck Fairgrounds 26 Quarry Hill Rd. Haddam Neck, CT 

Haddam Neck Fair is celebrating its 104th year, they have been rated one of Connecticut’s major agricultural fairs. This fair is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and beautiful environment. 2019 features a baking contest, tractor pulling, horse show, road race, exhibits, family entertainment, midway, truck and tracker pulls.

Woodstock Fair

August 30- September 2, 2019 Woodstock Fairgrounds 281 Rte. 169 South Woodstock, CT
Celebrating its 156th year, the state’s second oldest agricultural fair has tasty food, livestock shows, a petting zoo, free stage shows, a midway, go-kart races, strolling entertainers, plenty of vegetables and flowers, and much more.

On Friday, from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Connecticut’s Battle of the Bands will be held as a, musical tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Music Festival. At 8:15 p.m., Tusk will take the Main Stage.

Clinton Summerfest & Fireworks 2019

August 31, 2019 Town Hall and Town Beach Clinton

Town Hall will be the location for live music, food trucks, kids’ activities and the beer & wine garden starting at 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Town Beach will have live music and food trucks during the day with the fireworks starting at 9 p.m.
Time: 4-10 p.m.

Connecticut Renaissance Faire 2019

August 31-October 14, 2019 (weekends only)

Lebanon Fairgrounds, 122 Mack Road Lebanon

Enjoy a Medieval Marketplace, ancient music, traditional dances, birds of prey in flight, archery, a kingly feast. Costumes encouraged but not required. Come as you are or as you wish to be. Pets allowed. Dogs must have proof of rabies vaccination for entry.
Time: Held Saturday and Sunday from August 31 to October 14. 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Goshen Fair

August 31- September 2, 2019 Goshen Fairgrounds 116 Old Middle St. (Rte. 63) Goshen, CT
The 107th Goshen Fair will feature livestock judging, woodcutting competition, entertainment, great food, arts and crafts as well an adult spelling bee, fireworks, hay bale toss contest, parade, pie eating contest, a skillet throw contest and Fireworks.

New England Food Truck Festival 2019

August 31- September 1, 2019 Winter Parking Lot of Mohegan Sun, 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd. Uncasville

This festival will feature more than 30 food trucks, live music, entertainment for kids, face painting, field games and so much more. Saturday night ends with an explosive firework show at 9:15pm.
Time: Saturday, noon- 10 p.m.; Sunday, noon-8 p.m.

Hebron Harvest Fair

September 5-8, 2019 Hebron Lion’s Fairgrounds 347 Gilead St. (Rte. 85) Hebron, CT

Rosaire’s Royal Racers will be returning to the Hebron Harvest Fair this year. With continuous stage magic show, entertainment, arts and crafts, food and product booths, small animal barns, and much more.

North Haven Fair

Every year the North Haven Fair presents some of the greatest farm animals, baking and entertainment in the state. Including exhibit buildings and booths, Old McDonald’s farm, live entertainment, good food, tractor pull and more.

Wapping Fair

Bethlehem Fair

September 6-8, 2019 384 Main St North Bethlehem, CT
Old-fashioned agricultural fair with livestock, agricultural exhibits, horse show, horse drawing, art and photography show, farm displays, amusement rides, food, and entertainment.  Bethlehem gates open at 8 am on September 6th, this fair includes livestock, agricultural exhibits, horse show, horse drawing, Antique Tractor Pully, farm displays, amusement rides, food, and entertainment. Saturday, September 7 on the main stage, “Bethlehem Fair’s Got Talent” at 4 pm.

Ledyard Fair

Country fair featuring midway, stage entertainment, livestock shows, exhibits and much more. They will be offering FREE RIDES (no wristbands required) on Saturday September 7 between 9:00 and 10:00 AM 

Four Town Fair

September 12-15, 2019   Four Town Fair Fairgrounds 56 Egypt Rd. (off Rte. 83) Somers, CT
This is one of Connecticut’s oldest fairs.  This year’s events include a car show, parade, live entertainment, and doodlebug pull and much more. Berlin Fair

This fair includes thrilling rides or just relaxing and watching a concert as well frog jumping and turtle racing. The packed schedule includes pie-eating contests, large animal and crafts exhibits and live entertainment throughout the weekend. This fair is for all ages!

Fall Festival & Hawk Watch 2019

This family nature festival celebrates the fall season and annual migration of raptors. Enjoy live raptor shows, hawk releases, music, petting zoo, bungee bounce, photography experience, hayrides, games and crafts, local exhibitors, and food.

The Big E

The Big E, formally known as The Eastern States Exposition, is billed as “New England’s Great State fair”. It is the largest agricultural event on the eastern seaboard and the sixth-largest fair in the nation.

Guilford Fair

Orange Country Fair

Durham Fair

Filled with rides and games, tractor pulls, three livestock barns, crafts, exhibits featuring baking, canning, photography and horticulture, and a wide selection of fair food, the Durham Fair is Connecticut’s largest agricultural fair. This year there will also be a Demolition Derby, tractor pull and a monster truck meet and greet, where you can meet the driver and get autographs and much more

Harwinton Fair

October 4-6, 2019 Harwinton Fairgrounds 150 Locust Rd. Harwinton, CT
Harwinton Fair, originally known as Harwinton Cattle Show and Fair, is the yearly event of the Harwinton Agricultural Society. There will be Pig Races, Antique Tractor Show, Rabbit Costume Contest, Oxen Draw and Civil War Displays. Enjoy a magic show and bluegrass music after visiting the barnyard animals. Don’t forget to stop by the Country Store.

Portland Fair

Harwinton Halloween Festival
