Jennings Beach X 3

Jennings beach times three 😁. Not exactly an adventure, but hey, it’s what I did last week ha, ha. Walking on the beach is my very favorite thing to do, so I took advantage before it closes to out of towners (unless you pay) and I was still back home by late morning for work calls and such. If you can get to one of the town beaches this week go for it, you will be glad you did!

Here are a few things you can do on the way to Jennings Beach. I’ve had a rough six months, so spontaneously decided to purchase a parking pass for this season as a healing treat. If I’m light on the adventure posts this summer, you can find me at the beach! Coming from the Danbury area, instead of taking Rt. 25, if you take Rt. 58, you will drive by a few hiking spots and other interesting features. The other day I stopped to photograph a field full of wild phlox at DaMota Wildlife Sanctuary. The Aspetuck Valley Apple Barn gets great reviews as a lovely country store selling all kinds of treats, gifts and produce. You will also drive by the Roy & Margot Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary, an Audubon property – enjoy! (Just probably not this weekend with all the rain 😆)

“Micro-adventure”? Last week on my way home from, you guessed it, Jennings Beach, I stopped at the perennial garden by the old Newtown Police Station. Of course I had driven by it many times and always wanted to visit after seeing the statues of the man and the dogs, but never did until now. It was even more interesting than I had suspected! There are other animal statues, lovely flowers and landscaping, and even Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor’s garden. I may have also stopped at you-know-where for ice cream, but there are no pictures to prove it 😁
