The Academy Award nominated short films are often the most creative and surprising films of any kind. However, they are not regularly shown in theaters. This year, film buffs can watch the full slate of nominees in one marathon day at The Palace! On Saturday, February 1, see all 15 Oscar® Nominated Short Films in one spectacular and exclusive theatrical release.

1:00 PM ANIMATION ~ 3:00PM LIVE ACTION ~ 6:00PM DOCUMENTARY

1:00 PM: (RATED PG13) We begin the day with the fanciful world of Animation. And the nominees are: Daughter (Czechoslovakia, 15 mins) Hair Love (USA, 7 mins) Kitbull (USA, 9 mins) Memorable (France, 12 mins), Sister (USA, 8 mins) PLEASE NOTE The films are all very good, but adult audiences will appreciate them much more than kids.
3:00 PM: (RATED R) The Live Action Shorts are a tour de force of the year’s best storytelling! And The Nominees are: A Sister (Belgium, 16 mins), Brotherhood (Tunisia/Canada, 25 mins), Nefta Football Club (France, 17 mins), Saria (USA, 23 mins), The Neighbor’s Window (USA, 20 mins)
6:00 PM: (RATED R) Be prepared to be inspired and challenged by the Documentary Shorts. And the nominees are: In The Absence (USA, 29 mins), Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (if you’re a girl) (UK, 40 mins), Life Overtakes Me (USA/ 37 mins), St. Louis Superman (USA, 28 mins), Walk Run Cha-Cha (USA, 20 mins)

MEET RENATO GHIO! YOUR CINEMATIC GURU FOR THE OSCAR MARATHON!

Wanna discuss the films? Got a question about camera angles? Plot device? Lighting? Meet Renato Ghio in the lobby after the screenings. A self-proclaimed visual obsessive, Renato is an avid movie aficionado with a keen eye and understanding on what makes a movie resonate!

 

An adjunct professor of cinematography for the Film & TV Master’s program at Sacred Heart University, Renato has been immersed in the world of film and video since the late 1980s.  After working as a freelance cameraman and editor for many years, he created his own boutique video production company, RmediA, in 1999.  In addition to working with his own business clients, Ghio has been the cinematographer on a variety of short films produced in Connecticut.
