Unique Collages at The Brookfield Library
Exhibit February 3 – 27, 2020
Unique collage and assemblage artist, Kiffi Diamond, will have her work on display at The Brookfield Library Art Gallery from February 3 – 27. There is an opportunity to meet the artist at a reception on Sunday, February 9, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm (snow date Feb 23). Using her signature style and strong design sense, Ms. Diamond combines idiosyncratic materials into witty visual narratives. “For the past four decades, I have combined disparate materials to create cohesive compositions and solve problems, generating quirky, compelling visual narratives.” said Ridgefield artist Diamond. Her works have been featured at museums and galleries across the country including many in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. Inspired by the personality of the objects, Ms. Diamond looks for richness of character, patina and history to let a dialog unfold, creating something compelling.
The Brookfield Library Art Gallery will be open for dedicated viewing of this exhibit on Fridays from 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm, in February and whenever there is not a library program in session.
“Kiffi brings ordinary objects to life with her strong sense of composition. Her pieces are fascinating and will have you looking at them from all different perspectives — you will want to look from across the room to get one perspective and then get in very close to see her choice of objects and how they create the image. I am amazed at how she can use a number of different textures and seemingly unconnected items to tell a story or make a statement. Anyone who enjoys or is even curious about modern art should see this exhibit. It’s a really fun art form and showcases her great imagination. Bring the whole family to this one! ” said Library Director Yvonne Cech.
Area artists are invited to submit samples of their work either in person at the library or on the library’s website at www.brookfieldlibrary.org. The Art Gallery Committee will review all submissions and will contact those selected and will schedule exhibits. Library patrons will be able to see each exhibit as they attend library programs in the community room. Check the library’s website for information on dedicated viewing Art Gallery viewing days and times.
